The Department of Telecommunications, Government of India has launched the Sanchar Saathi portal on 16 May 2024 . After the launch of this portal, common citizens of the country will be able to block lost or stolen phones. The lost phone can be traced on this portal. Not only this, as soon as you insert the SIM card in the stolen phone, you will also get information about the location of your phone. Not only this, the live status of your request will also be known on this portal.
The Department has officially launched the Sanchar Saathi portal www.sancharsaathi.gov.in. Citizens will be directly able to block and track stolen, lost, and missing smartphone mobiles across the country through this Sanchar Saathi portal launched. As people take a lot of tension while traveling or in the event of the smartphone falling or being stolen for some reason will be free of mind.

Inaugurating the Sanchar Saathi portal, Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that misuse of mobile phones can lead to various frauds like identity theft, fake KYC, and banking frauds. This portal has been developed to avoid such fraud. He said that user protection is also an important part of the draft Telecom Bill. During this, Ashwini Vaishnav has appealed to the citizens of the country to avail of the services by visiting sancharsaathi.gov.in.

What is needed to block a lost or stolen phone
To block a lost or stolen mobile phone, you must first visit the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal of the Department of Telecom as the government has named this portal as Sanchar Saathi. To block the lost or stolen phone, you have to do two things first. First of all, you have to file a complaint with the police and keep a copy of it with you. After this, you will have to take a duplicate card of the SIM card you are using in your phone because the portal will send you OTP on the same number.
Here is the complete process of blocking mobile phone
- After following the above process, now you have to go to the Sanchar Saathi portal sancharsaathi.gov.in.
- On the portal, you have to click on Block Stolen/Lost Mobile.
- After clicking on Block Stolen/Lost Mobile, you will get all the necessary details like- IMEI number of the mobile, phone number, mobile company name, and model, bill copy, the phone lost place, date, police station, your name, address, etc. have to be entered.
- Now you also have to click on the Declaration given below that all the information given by you is absolutely correct.
- Then you have to click on OTP and after OTP comes, fill it in and click on Submit.
- After registering the complaint, you will get a request ID, with the help of which you will be able to know the status of your complaint.
- After getting the phone, you will also be able to unblock your mobile by visiting this portal.
