Asian Games 2023 will be played in Hangzhou city of China from 23 September 2023 to 8 October 2023. This time also in the Asian Games, cricket has been included in both the women’s and men’s sections in the T20 format. The women’s competition will start from 19 September 2023. 14 teams will fight it out for the gold medal in the women’s section. The final i.e. gold medal match will be organized on 26 September 2023.
After this, the men’s matches in the cricket event will start from 28 September 2023 and the gold medal match will be played on 7 October 2023. 18 teams are participating in the men’s section. The cut off date for the tournament was 1 June 2023 and the rankings will also feature teams from outside Asia such as Australia and England.
After removing these, the 14 teams that will be there will be given preference for the tournament in the same order. Then preference will be given to Asian teams like India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka. In this way, 14 teams will be selected in the women’s category and 18 teams in the men’s category. Asian Games 2023 Schedule
A total of 14 teams will be participating in the women’s cricket in the Asian Games and a total of 14 matches will be played in this category. While 18 teams will be participating in the men’s section and 18 matches will be played. The top four seeded teams in both the categories will get direct entry into the quarter-finals and for the remaining 4 places in the quarter-finals, there will be a competition between ten teams in the women’s cricket and 14 in the men’s cricket.
Cricket competitions in the Asian Games will start from 19 September 2023 against the women’s section and the final will organize on 26 September 2023. The men’s events will begin on 28 September 2023 and the gold medal match will be played on 7 October 2023. The teams will be played in Asian Games as per the rankings given by ICC.
